Forest Town Football Club

Club History

In 1981, the Club originally started as a Sunday team called Village FC playing in the Mansfield & District Sunday League. The club, under the name of "Smith Street FC" started to play at it's present ground in 1986 when the club became known as Mansfield Colliery FC due to the close links with the colliery.

The Colliery closed in 1988 and the name changed to Forest Town Welfare FC, this was a way of representing the local community, and this team is still playing in Sunday football today. In January 2000, the club together with the management of the Saturday Youth Team Mansfield Colliery U16's FC and a few players from Abacus FC formed Forest Town FC. The club grew popular and in 2002 expanded further with the formation of a reserve team.

The next two seasons saw the 1st team finish 13th in the Premier Division. The Reserves gained promotion at the end of 2003-04 season and now compete in the Reserve Premier Division and are managed by Dave Brown and Joe Taylor.

The 1st team are managed by Player Manager Liam Best and assistants Steve Shatwell and Andy Rowe.
